  15. <p>     DIED. PAPA JOHN CREACH, 76, violinist; in Los Angeles. Best
  16. known for playing with the Jefferson Airplane--and its successor,
  17. Jefferson Starship--Creach was adept in every pop-musical
  18. form of the 20th century. He kicked off his career in the '30s
  19. with his own jazz group, the Chocolate Music Bars. And last
  20. year he earned the W.C. Handy award as outstanding blues artist
  21. following the release of his first CD, Papa Blues.
