- <p> DIED. PAPA JOHN CREACH, 76, violinist; in Los Angeles. Best
- known for playing with the Jefferson Airplane--and its successor,
- Jefferson Starship--Creach was adept in every pop-musical
- form of the 20th century. He kicked off his career in the '30s
- with his own jazz group, the Chocolate Music Bars. And last
- year he earned the W.C. Handy award as outstanding blues artist
- following the release of his first CD, Papa Blues.
